  • Swapping to Blogger

Many of my good friends, most of which live near me, have blogs on blogger, so I've decided to swap. Hopefully, Stungun will follow me and I can introduce him to my friends. That would be really cool. I have two blogs on there (yes, two. XD) One is personal, the other is fictional and about Mytherdia, etc. I figured a blog like this might be a good place to gather my ideas together about the history surrounding Mytherdia and Runieca.

Hopefully, I can do it without spoiling anything for my novel.

Links: Runiecan Lore & Ancient Mytherdian and Runiecan Lore.

I no longer have the second blog up due to protecting my intellectual property since I'm planned to publish a novel circulateling an event in the history of Mytherdia and Runieca. Sorry.

This xanga will be left behind as a memoir to the past!

  • Hammered - By Life.

College assignments have been eating me alive as of recent, so, I'm cutting back on my use of the internet for a little while. I don't know how long. I hope I can catch up on the majority of my reading this weekend, and be blessed with some free time to play games, or to write, or to role-play.

I found myself extremely frustrated this evening as I tried as hard as I could to focus on my reading, when my mind just kept wandering off into no man's land. I keep thinking about my stories and the fact that I want to finish them. I also worry about summer coming up because I might have to leave Utah for New York. Some of you may wonder why I dread this. Well, I hate New York. I don't want to take an internship there like my Dad wants me to, so I'm trying to find meetings for internships here. I don't want to move all my junk again.

  • Describing Surroundings

I received a comment on one of my stories recently that made me realize that I can't describe what would be a "corridor" for a forest, or an outer area. I've written areas of indoor rooms, and maybe some fields. But I just can't describe architectural, and landmass features for the majority of the part. Let's give an example:

                  O
                   |
               =====

Okay, the "O" is a spring, the "|" is a pathway onto an another pathway with kinda, walls coming up from the sides... I guess it's a mini-valley or something that doesn't go that deep. Anyway,s the "=" represents that small alley way path, there are trees and stuff all lined on the upper areas of the path. When I say upper areas, I mean on the "walls" around the "=" path.

Do you see what I mean? My head is hurting now, and I'm wondering how to describe these things.

  • I hate it when this happens

    Belayed Happy New Year everyone.

I'm currently working on my writing, and I know what my characters are going to say in this exchange between them, except I've forgotten what they'll say. And I usually remember at points when I can't write it down. Urggghhh.

Just venting a little anger here.

  • But it's so cute...

Okay, so I'm getting to the end of Twilight Princess and Midna has really grown on me. -=By the way SPOILER WARNING=- I've always got the feeling that Midna might be attracted to Link romantically. In the beginning of the game, she's half teasing and half flirting with him--at least that's what I thought. Later on, after being saved by him and in the Gerudo Desert, Midna puts her hand to Link's cheek in a... delicate way.

Then I looked online for Midna images because I was curious (I was NOT looking for anything dirty. Pervs). And I found this image. It's really funny. I found a wiki article on her and I was surprised to see that fans of Twilight Princess have speculated a lot about Midna's and Link's relationship. I'm afraid I spoiled myself, but there is one scene where Link is cradling Midna in his arms (cute). At the end of the game, she says to Link: "I... see you later." Some believe that she was about to say "I love you." It's actually very logical, considering all the things Link did for her and putting up with her bad manners in the beginning. He's like Tenchi, from Tenchi Muyo! He's sweet, compassionate, strong, courageous, and a chick magnet. I guess a Twili female can't resist him either.

I've seen a lot of cute fan art on the net. One, where Midna is wrapped around Link's neck wearing some sort of warm, pink sweater. They are in snowpeak (as far as I can tell) and it seems like Link is trying to help her stay warm. There are so many suggestions, even the image above is suggestive that Midna may have fallen in love with Link. Nintendo ALWAYS leaves these things ambiguous. You never know who Link's real girlfriend is (except in Wind Waker, Minish Cap, and Phantom Hourglass. A little too obvious there).

Why I am writing this? Because I got a shocked response from someone who said "Gosh. There are some sick people behind their computers around here." A problem with that is, what is "sick" about a relationship between Link and Midna? Is it because she's small? Is it because she's weird looking? Is it because she's a Twili and Link's a Hylian? This questions are ridiculous. These things should never be barriers to love. It is an ever-reaching emotion more powerful than any weapon that mankind can create. John the Beloved, and the Revelator said, "God is love" (1st John 4:8 KJV). It's an eternal emotion; power even, that can never be utterly destroyed.

Back to the main question, why is the idea of Midna and Link in love "sick?" The only answer I see is because one thinks of the perverse and vulgar things that come to mind (like how would Link and Midna "do it"). Those questions don't have to answered and you don't have to imagine it. Besides... I know there's a way around it--those of you who have beaten the game know there's a way around it.

Now, because Midna has grown on me, and I think she's a cool character. I think it's kinda to know that she'll separate from Link... possibly forever? That's heart-breaking. I know, I know, it's just a game, and they are only fictional characters. However, Nintendo did a good job of causing you to become concerned about Midna's life close to the half-point of the game.

I was taught by my Creative Writing Teacher that while writing fictional stories, you want your reader to care about the characters. If not, the "illusion" that you're trying to create breaks, and the reader realizes "someone made this all up," and then they close the book. You have to keep them engaged and have them almost believing that what they are reading is true somewhere in the universe--even if they know it's fictional in the back of their mind, but once that idea comes up front. One loses interest in it, and the illusion, your creation is worthless.

This is what Nintendo did so well with Midna. The illusion was powerful, it gripped every core of your body and became concerned for her. Then the following events between Link and Midna, suggesting that she (or they) have fallen in love are extremely logical to follow along with.

The line is hard to draw where what is sick and what is not. But I think that we need to use our best judgment and look to see if such a thing is possible, not outright reject it (be careful though, I nearly lost myself to being too open to things, and nearly killed myself unwittingly via starving (and I didn't know it either!)). Be wise...

I think a relationship between Midna and Link is very cute, and I might write a story about it sometime.

  • Um... what do I write about now?

Ever have a day where nothing comes to mind about what you should put in your blog?

Well, it's one of those days for me. In fact, I've had multiple days since my birthday announcement. School's been real rough recently, so I haven't gotten around to blogging something recently. My birthday was really cool, I had gotten myself an early birthday present: The Legend of Zelda - Twilight Princess, the GameCube version. I've had lots of fun with that game.

... nothing else comes to mind. Oh well... back to homework. :P

  • Tenchi Muyo!

BTW: This entry is sorta like a sticky in the forum; It will always be on the first page.
Ah, these are my favorite Tenchi Muyo! AMVs from YouTube. Enjoy (I made one of them)! "Save My Life" and "Protecting Me" are my favorites of these favorites. ^_^

(For Sasami Fighting in Melee Combat, here are the subtitles.)

About Me

  • While I have a real life identity, I would like to follow by my false nickname "Aegis Runestone," a person from the world I created called "Mytherdia." You may or may not learn much about this world depending on what is written here in this Xanga. I am a friendly and forgiving person, yet I'm very shy, especially around girls I have crushes on--which tends to lead me into trouble because I do not know how to react well to such things. Enough of the emo stuff though. I don't like slitting wrists as it is a rather painful and pointless thing to do. I prefer the positive over the negative despite my shortcomings and sometimes, falls or pit-falls. I am like the warriors of old who strive for all that is good in the world and I seek to lay hold of every good thing.
